Qatar Chamber recently discussed ways to enhance cooperation with the São Paulo Chamber of Commerce, the Commercial Association of São Paulo (ACSP), the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), and the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC).
The discussions took place during meetings held by a Qatar Chamber delegation, represented by Mr. Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidli, Member of the Qatar Chamber Board of Directors and Chairman of the Food Security and Environment Committee and the Technology and Innovation Committee, and Mr. Ahmed Abu Nahia, Director of the Public Relations Department, with the heads and representatives of these institutions.
The meetings were attended by H.E. Eng. Almuhannad Ali Al-Hammadi, Consul General of the State of Qatar in São Paulo, and Mr. Basil Abu Latif, Institutional Relations Advisor at the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
The meetings reviewed bilateral cooperation and ways to further strengthen it, as well as opportunities to enhance the trade and investment partnership between Qatar and Brazil.
Al-Obaidli affirmed that Qatar is well positioned to become a regional hub for food security and a global hub for companies, particularly those operating in the food sector.
During a meeting with the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), Al-Obaidli discussed with H.E. Ambassador Osmar Chohfi, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Foreign Trade at the Federation, opportunities to strengthen industrial, trade and investment cooperation, as well as the role of the private sector in supporting and developing economic relations between the two countries.
During a meeting with Dr. Alfredo Cotait, President of the Commercial Association of São Paulo and the São Paulo Chamber of Commerce, both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Qatari and Brazilian private sectors and identify new areas of mutual interest.
The Qatar Chamber delegation also met with Mr. Ricardo Santin, President of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the animal protein sector, particularly poultry and eggs, as well as ways to enhance access for Brazilian products to the Qatari and regional markets.
During the meeting, Al-Obaidli proposed establishing a joint venture or investment company to develop an integrated logistics, storage and distribution hub in Qatar, leveraging Brazil’s strong production capabilities and Qatar’s advanced infrastructure, strategic location and connectivity to regional markets.
The proposed hub would support the needs of the Qatari market, enhance strategic food stocks and food security, and position Qatar as a distribution center for Brazilian products to GCC and regional markets, with potential future expansion into African and Central Asian markets.
The Chamber’s delegation also met with Mr. Julio Ramos, Director of Strategic Projects at the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC), to discuss ways to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and explore opportunities for the private sector in areas of mutual interest, particularly food security.
