The Qatar-Poland Economic Forum will mark the start of a new phase of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, Qatar Chamber’s (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani has said.
Addressing the Forum in Warsaw, Poland held May 5, Sheikh Khalifa said the event would act as a booster to the ongoing efforts to strengthen the bilateral economic and trade relations, especially in the context of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s visit to Poland.
“This visit reflects Qatar’s interest to bolstering bilateral cooperation ties which are growing fast during the last few years after inauguration of the Polish embassy in Qatar in 2006 and the Qatari embassy in Warsaw in 2008. These robust relations were further strengthened by signing the long term gas deal between the two countries to supply Poland with 1.5 billion cubic metres of LNG from Qatar annually for 20 years. The deal certainly ensures a secure supply of energy to Poland which became a new market for Qatar LNG”, he said.
Elaborating on Qatar’s growth story, Sheikh Khalifa said Qatar’s economy has been maintaining its rapid growth over the past few years. Qatar has achieved outstanding growth rates thanks to its economic diversification policy and the increase of public expenditure, in addition to the contribution of the non-oil sector which is a key motive of the economic growth.
On the other hand, Poland is one of the fast growing economies in the EU.
Therefore, the economic and trade cooperation between our countries enhances great opportunities of partnerships in many sectors including energy, real estate, transport and tourism resulting in activating out trade exchange.
Sheikh Khalifa said Qatar is implementing a lot of mega projects for developing its infrastructure and the 2022 World Cup. There are huge business and investment opportunities for Polish businessmen and companies in Qatar. The Qatari businessmen are also keen to explore the investment opportunities available in Poland and establish joint ventures with their Polish counterparts.
