Recruitment platform facilitates businesses, supports private sector, says Al Sharqi

The joint coordinating committee between the Qatar Chamber and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) held a webinar to review the mechanisms of work of the online platform launched this monoth for recruiting labourers.

The meeting was presided over by QC Director-General Saleh bin Hamad Al Sahrqi and MADLSA Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs Mohamed Hassan al-Obaidli.

The meeting was also attended by members of the committee from the Chamber Ali Busharbak Al Mansuri, Assistant Director-General for Government Relations and Committee Affairs, Abdel Aziz Al-Kawari, Director of Legal Affairs, Anoud Al-Muhannadi, Director of Member Affairs, and Hamad Ali Muaiqal Al-Mari, Legal Researcher.

From the Ministry, the meeting was attended by Fawaz Mohamed Al-Rayyes, Director of Employment Administration at MADLSA, Abdullah Mubarak Al-Dosari, Director of Labor Relations Department, Fahad Zafer Al-Dosari, Director of Labor Inspection Department, and Mohamed Juma Al-Kawari as a reporter of the Committee.

During the meeting, attendees agreed on the Committee’s working mechanism and to hold its meetings on a monthly basis, as well as discuss all issues relating to the employment platform issues concerning private sector companies related to the work of the Ministry.

The meeting also reviewed the development of platform as the only official platform for recruiting labourers.

For his part, MADLSA Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs Mohamed al-Obaidli said that the platform is an important initiative by the chamber, stressing its importance for the Ministry in helping labour in the local market, especially under the current conditions of the pandemic of Covid-19.

He also noted that the platform would help laid-off labourers working in impacted companies move to new companies looking for new laboureres.

On his part, Saleh Al Sharqi eluded the positive cooperation between both sides in the platform, noting that there are about 2300 companies registered in the platform so far, assuring that it is a free initiative launched by the chamber to support impacted companies due to the crisis of Coronavirus.

Al Sharqi also said that the platform’s main objective is to facilitate businesses, noting that the chamber is keen to help companies searching for new labourers.

He pointed out that there is an agreement will be signed soon between the Chamber and the Ministry to regulate the platform which is officially approved, affirming that this platform is the only official platform for recruiting labour in the state and any other platform will be treated an unofficial, urging private sector companies not to deal with such unofficial platforms.

He called upon companies to register in the platform to benefit from its services in free, noting that the chamber is interested to help companies willing to hire new labourers from laid-off laboureres in coordination  with the Ministry.

Al Sharqi also said that the platform is not only dedicated for the current conditions related to the spread of Corona virus, but will continue in the future, noting that the platform was developed so that individuals seeking work can login to the platform and register their data and resumes.

The procedures for contracting with labourers are governed by the Qatari laws and supervised by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affair, he added, noting that the platform will be promoted in many Asian languages through various means of media to reach all laboureres.
