Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani held a meeting with Greece’s Minister for Development and Investment Spyridon-Adonis Georgiadis in Athens to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance Qatar-Greece ties.

The meeting was attended by Vice-chairman of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber for Commerce and Development and Qatar Chamber board member Rashid bin Nasser al-Kaabi and Qatar’s ambassador to Greece Abdulaziz Ali al-Nama, Qatar.

During the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa said the private sector in both countries “plays a key role” in enhancing economic relations through the development of joint co-operation. He noted that Qatar-Greece bilateral trade witnessed “a qualitative leap” in 2019 to reach QR333mn during the first half of this year, compared to QR300mn in 2018.

He also assured that the Qatari private sector “is interested to explore the investment opportunities available in Greece” and build alliances with its Greek counterpart and forge joint ventures “whether in Qatar or in Greece.”
Sheikh Khalifa noted that there are 65 Qatari-Greek companies operating in the Qatari market in several sectors, such as trading, contracting, engineering, industrial consultancies, cargo, marine services, and decoration. “Both sides have a strong will to enhance their commercial alliances and establish more joint companies, whether in Qatar or Greece.”
