The Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) held a seminar at the headquarter of the Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College to brief students on the most important features of the Qatari Arbitration Law and the developments of commercial arbitration.
Board Member of International Relations at QICCA Dr HE Sheikh Thani Bin Ali Al Thani gave a presentation entitled “Overview of the Most Important Developments in the Qatari Arbitration Law”.
In press statement, Sheikh Thani said that QICCA was keen organise legal seminars at the Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College in order to help the law students be abreast of the latest developments in commercial arbitration.
Arbitration has seen a growing interest at the global and local level as an alternative and successful way to resolve commercial disputes, it has contributed to streamline the delivery of many major projects without any corruption, Sheikh Thani added.
He cited the example of a recent London High Court ruling in favour of the Qatar Foundation to lawfully terminated a £1.9 billion hospital contract with a joint venture of construction companies implementing the Sidra Medical Center project in Doha.
