Qatar Chamber (QC) board member Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Obaidli, called for the establishment of a Qatari-Turkmen Business Council and the development of cooperation between the private sector in Qatar and Turkmenistan, especially in light of the enormous potentials enjoyed by the two countries, expressing the interest of Qatari businessmen to learn about the investment opportunities available in Turkmenistan and establishing effective partnerships and economic alliances that benefit the economies of the two friendly countries.
This came during a meeting held by the Qatar Chamber (Wednesday, July 19) with Mergen Gurdov, Chairman of Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the accompanying delegation to discuss cooperation relations between the two sides and ways to develop joint cooperation between Qatari and Turkmen companies.
Al-Obaidly said that the Qatari-Turkmen Business Council will have a role in defining the investment climate in Qatar and Turkmenistan and presenting the available investment opportunities in preparation for establishing partnerships between businessmen in the two countries, and thus strengthening and deepening relations between the two countries in various fields, especially economic, trade, investment and industrial fields. He expressed his hope that the coming period will witness reciprocal visits of trade delegations, whether in Qatar or Turkmenistan.
For his part, Mergen Gurdov, Chairman of Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that there are relations linking Turkmenistan with the State of Qatar, and there is a desire to develop trade relations and make use of the available capabilities. He referred to the visit of His Excellency the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to Doha last March and his meeting with Qatar Chamber delegation and Qatari businessmen, during which Mammadov stressed the availability of ways to develop economic relations between Qatar and Turkmenistan in line with the economic capabilities of the two countries.
Gurdov stressed that the establishment of a Qatari-Turkmen Business Council will enhance trade relations between the two countries and will provide an opportunity for Qatari and Turkmen companies to conclude deals and alliances, stressing the interest of businessmen in Turkmenistan to enter the Qatari market.
He called on Qatari businessmen to learn about investment opportunities in his country, especially in the agricultural products, oil, gas, energy, petrochemicals and other sectors, stressing the readiness of the Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry to assist Qatari investors wishing to invest in Turkmenistan.
