QC vice-chairman hails Bahraini economy

The Bahraini economy is the most diverse economy among the GCC countries and is capable of absorbing economic fluctuations which are being witnessed now, Qatar Chamber Vice-Chairman Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar has said.

He was speaking at the 10th edition of the ‘Invest in Bahrain 2015’ forum and exhibition organised by Bahrain Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism in coordination with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCCC) in Manama on Wednesday.

Tawar said Bahrain has for long attracted national, Gulf and Arab investments because of its investory-friendly attitude.

“Bahrain is one of the leading GCC countries in providing investment opportunities for foreign investors, which emphasises the importance of openness, liberalisation and competition in raising production efficiency, stimulating economic growth rates and providing appropriate job opportunities for the citizens,” he said.

The Bahraini economy continues to grow and has great and productive opportunities in many sectors such as industry, services, trade, tourism, education, health and modern technology, he said.

Tawar pointed out that Qatar Chamber is keen to participate in annual forums as the one in Manama because of the opportunities available for venture capitalists.

“Through the forum Qatar Chamber provides investment opportunities to investors in a number of sectors and promotes Bahrain as a suitable destination for investment in these sectors.”

An exhibition of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) was hold on the sidelines of the forum.

The exhibition is in line with the ministry’s vision and strategy to support and develop SMEs, which accounts for more than 90 percent of existing industrial projects in Bahrain.
