In line with the state’s efforts exerted to curb the outbreak of Covid-19, the Qatar Chamber calls on its members to abide by instructions issued by official bodies in the country.
It also calls on all members, especially exporting companies, to take advantage of the online services offered by the Chamber such as Online Certificate of Origin.
This system was launched last year after Qatar joined other 23 countries worldwide that use standards of the International Chamber of Commerce in issuing the COO.
In this context, Qatar Chamber Director General Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi said that the Chamber has adopted many measures corresponding with the state’s efforts and procedures aiming to curb the outbreak of Coronavirus.
‘The Chamber’s measures include plans allowing employees to work online from home through the Chamber’s electronic systems as a way to preserve their health and safety. The Chamber also allocated hotlines to answer any inquiries from merchants and businessmen on (44559122), sectorial committees on (44559187), media on (44555803), member’s affairs, certificates of origin and certifications on (44559118)’ he said.
Al Sharqi also noted that the Chamber’s management holds daily meetings with employees to ensure the progress of work in accordance with these plans.
He said that the Chamber continues to provide services to all members and traders to avoid disrupting their businesses, noting that the chamber is currently preparing a comprehensive plan to offer all services “online”.
This online system allows businessmen to accomplish their transactions from office without the need to visit the chamber’s venue.
He also stressed that the Chamber’s sectorial committees are holding meeting to address all issues related to economic sectors in order to minimize negative impacts of Covid-19 on these sectors.
