Cuban President calls on Qatari investors to invest in his country

The President of the Republic of Cuba HE Miguel Diaz-Canel invited Qatari businessmen to invest in Cuba and benefit from investment opportunities available in his country.

This came during a meeting held at the Fairmont Hotel with a delegation of Qatar Chamber led by Qatar Chamber Chairman HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, along with QC Second Vice-Chairman HE Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba and many board members.

The Cuban President also said that he led a large delegation, which included several of ministers, officials and businessmen aiming to strengthen cooperation relations that align with the aspirations and ambitions of both nations.

HE highlighted the historic and deep-rooted nature of the relations between Cuba and Qatar. Additionally, he mentioned his discussions with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emphasizing the strong conviction and desire to expand and develop bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Cuban President expressed his interest in meeting with members of Qatar Chamber and representatives from the private sector to promote numerous investment opportunities in various sectors such as renewable energy, tourism, water resources, pharmaceuticals, technology, and more.

He specifically highlighted the Cuban Hospital in Qatar as a model of cooperation between the two countries, noting its distinguished reputation in the Middle East.

For his part, Qatar Chamber Chairman, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim, expressed appreciation for the close relations between Qatar and Cuba across various fields. He welcomed the visit of HE the Cuban President and the accompanying delegation. Sheikh Khalifa noted that the current both sides’ aspirations, emphasizing the shared interest in enhancing cooperation.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the chambers of commerce in both countries to contribute to the development of trade exchange and strengthen ties between the two friendly countries.

HE Sheikh Khalifa highlighted numerous areas for collaboration between businessmen from Qatar and Cuba, including agriculture, energy, tourism, industry, and other sectors. He expressed satisfaction with the presence of many Cuban companies in Qatar and expressed the hope for increased participation in the future. Sheikh Khalifa expressed a desire to see more Cuban products in the Qatari market, particularly those known for their high quality.

HE noted that the Qatari private sector looks at Cuba is a promising destination for investments and rife with opportunities in various sectors, assuring that Qatari investors are eager to get acquainted with investment opportunities galore in Cuba and meet to Cuban counterparts to reviews the possibility of establishing joint ventures and partnerships.

HE praised the Cuban President’s visit to Qatar, noting that it emphasized the Cuban side’s interest to bolster trading cooperation with Qatar and with the Qatari private sector in particular and benefit from incentives provided by Qatar for foreign investors.

He said that the level of mutual visits has developed, pointing out that Qatar Chamber received numerous delegations from Cuba which stressed the strong desire to develop economic and commercial cooperation between both countries.

He asserted that Qatar Chamber encourages Qatari investors to invest in Cuba and learn about investment opportunities galore in Cuba, especially in the presence of the state’s economic diversification strategy and expanding investment abroad.
