Qatar, Turkey hold talks to boost labour cooperation

Qatar Chamber participated in the meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Joint Committee for Labour Affairs held via video conferencing.

QC General Manager Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi represented the Chamber at the webinar alongside with the Director of Legal Affairs Dept. Abdulaziz Al Kuwari.

Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi underscored Qatar-Turkey ties, saying both the countries are associated with fast-growing co-operation relations in all fields, especially in commercial and economic aspects.
Al-Sharqi emphasised that reinforcing co-operation in labour fields “would further boost these relations.”

He said the Qatari private sector “highly-welcomes” the Turkish trained and experienced workforce. He said holding a joint employment fair would play a significant role in bringing more Turkish labour to the Qatari market.

He also noted that trade between both the countries increased by 136% from $908mn in 2016 to $2.2bn in 2019; figures hit $1.2bn in the first half of this year.

Underscoring the role of the Qatar-Turkey Joint Committee for Labour Affairs, al-Sharqi stressed that co-operation through the committee “would open new vistas for co-operation” in economic and commercial fields and would pave the way for establishing more commercial alliances and Turkish factories in Qatar, assuring that this would take the two countries’ relations to advanced levels.
