Qatar, Japan economic ties reviewed

Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kentaro Sonoura on Sunday praised the level of bilateral cooperation and development of close relations between his country and the State of Qatar, which include in addition to gas and energy, a large number of economic and trade fields.

During a meeting here on Sunday with Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, the Japanese top diplomat said that bilateral relations have witnessed remarkable development through the exchange of visits at the highest levels, noting that trade exchange volume between the two countries is growing and includes a variety of sectors.

He said his country highly appreciates the level of joint cooperation and Qatar’s support during the natural disasters which hit Japan recently, through oil assistance and other forms of aid.

For his part, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani said Japan is an important strategic partner for Qatar as one of the first countries that has imported the Qatari gas, hoping that both sides will further enhance their relations to a level that would meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples and achieve common goals.

The Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Qatar Chamber discussed during the meeting, which was attended by a number of businessmen from Qatar Chamber and the Japanese side, means of enhancing the bonds of friendship between Qatar and Japan and strengthening the partnership between the two countries especially in agriculture and commerce sectors.
