A Malaysian trade team represents the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) headed by Dr. Jalaluddin Harron , the general manager, paid a visit to Qatar Chamber to learn about the available business opportunities in Qatar on Sunday at the chamber venue.
Qatar Chamber vice chairman Mohamed bin Twar who received the team assured that the Qatari business community welcomes the Malaysian investments that touched the mega projects which are being implemented for developing the infrastructure and for 2022 World Cup projects.
He said that the sector of timber and furniture is promising and there are real opportunities for partnerships between businessmen from both sides.
“Qatar Investment environment magnets all businessmen from over the world to cooperate with local companies and the chamber is ready to provide you with all data about doing business in Qatar, and finding the appropriate local partner.” He added.
The delegation included the best Malaysian companies specialized companies in producing and manufacturing the wood products such as wooden furniture, doors and frames, sawn timber, fiberboard, agar wood, wood plastic composite and engineered timer products.
The delegation members express their interest to know about the requirements of Qatari market from timber products.
For his part head of the mission Dr. Jalaluddin Harron said that the timber sector is witnessing a great hub in Malaysia and meeting the global high standards of quality and technology.
Qatari-Malaysian economic relations are very distinctive and there is a clear keenness on developing them at all fields, he noted, assuring that the timber industry exports last year reached $ 70 bn to 218 countries worldwide.
The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) was established in January 1992 to promote the development and growth of the Malaysian timber industry. MTC was formed on the initiative of the timber industry. It is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act 1965.
The Council is governed by a Board of Trustees, whose members are appointed by the Minister of Plantation Industries & Commodities. MTC’s main objectives are to promote the Malaysian timber trade and develop the market for timber products globally, to promote the development of the timber industry by expanding the industry’s manufacturing technology base, increasing value-adding in production and increasing the pool of knowledge workers, to augment the supply of raw materials for the timber-processing industries, to provide information services to the timber industry and to protect and improve the Malaysian timber industry’s global image.
