The International Chamber of Commerce Qatar will launch its new monthly “Arbitration Series” with the seminar “Drafting Arbitration Clauses” on 24 January 2017, presented by attorneys from Squire Patton Boggs. This monthly series is part of the 2017 programme of ICC Qatar’s Commission on Arbitration and ADR and will follow the Commission’s charge to foster the development of trade and investment between Qatar and the international business community.
The series has been designed to help inform not only arbitration practitioners but professionals across the entire Qatari community from businesses, governmental agencies and public and private sectors to students.
“Launching the Arbitration Series and bringing together some of the top legal experts in Qatar and ICC to share their knowledge with the Qatari community emphasizes ICC Qatar’s continuous mission to facilitate sustainable economic growth and development in Qatar” said H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani. “Strengthening the role of Arbitration in Qatar provides an efficient alternative mechanism for dispute settlement, accelerating the growth of local businesses and stimulating international investment flows and trade.”
Mr. Charbel Maakaron, Managing Partner of Squire Patton Boggs added “I am proud to see this initiative materialize and I am confident the Arbitration Series will benefit the Qatar legal community by strengthening the understanding and effective use of arbitration and ADR processes in Qatar.”
The seminars are presented by Commission members and distinguished colleagues, and will address the changes and developments in foreign and domestic arbitration in Qatar, how Qatari professionals might prepare for arbitration and ADR proceedings, and discussion of how arbitration in Qatar links to the international business community and investments.
