The Qatar Chamber participated in a virtual meeting titled the ‘Prospects of Cooperation between Federation of the GCC Chambers and Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Uzbekistan’.
Director of Public Relations Department Ahmed Abu Nahia and economic expert Dr Mohamed Ebrahim represented the chamber at the webinar.
The forum reviewed means of enhancing co-operation links between chambers of commerce between both parties, and identified services provided by both institutions and opportunities available for cooperation in the future.
The forum also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Federation of the GCC Chambers and the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Uzbekistan with the aim of strengthening cooperation between them for the benefit of Gulf and Uzbek economies.
During the forum, the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Uzbekistan delivered a presentation titled ‘Chamber of Uzbekistan and International Cooperation’, while the Federation of GCC Chambers provided an overview about its establishment, objectives, roles, and services it offers for the gulf business community. Adham Ikramov, the chairman of the Uzbekistan chamber, paid tribute to the relations that linked his country with the GCC. He describe the relationship as “strong and distinct,” noting that there are many similarities between both sides that constitute “a solid foundation” for more co-operation in all fields.
Ikramov also said Gulf countries have a prominent presence globally and play a significant role in the energy sector, and assured that these countries have achieved various global milestones. He also stressed Uzbekistan’s interest to promote co-operation with Gulf countries, indicating that Uzbekistan has issued many reforms meant to develop the economy and sustain its relations with the international community. Ikramov said Uzbekistan is looking forward to hosting business delegations from GCC countries to explore areas of co-operation with their Uzbek counterparts at all economic and commercial levels.
