Five startups have won in the fourth edition of the ‘Best Innovative Ideas of Entrepreneurs 2019’ competition, which was held within the initiative to support entrepreneurs titled ‘Maan’ launched by Qatar Chamber, in collaboration with Qatar University and Qatar Development Bank (QDB).
Qatar Chamber honoured the winning companies in a ceremony held in the presence of a number of officials, leading businessmen, and entrepreneurs, among others.
Among 50 applications, only the top five qualified in the final evaluation stages. The winning companies are Tawleefa, Instapreter, Fursa, Ayalna, and Baku Cafe.
Addressing the ceremony, Qatar Chamber board member and head of Trustee Council of Maan, Abdulrahman Abduljalil Abdulghani, said the competition reflects the interest of Qatar and its institutions in innovation, even as he noted that Qatar National Vision 2030 aims to build a diversified economy, based on knowledge and innovation.
He said the “tremendous technological advances” have urged governments to adopt policies that support innovation and entrepreneurship to increase productivity.
Abdulghani also stressed the importance of innovation in the business community, noting that it has become an important tool that helps companies succeed and develop in the future.
He called on businessmen to help entrepreneurs and to encourage their innovative ideas, affirming that this would achieve the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 in achieving human development and economic diversification.
Underlining the importance of the Maan initiative, Abdulghani said it was launched three years ago by Qatar Chamber, QDB, and Qatar University with the aim to offer support for entrepreneurs through specialised training courses, incubators, competitions, awards, and promotion.
