Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani led a delegation, which included board members Dr Khaled bin Klefeekh al-Hajri and Rashid bin Nasser al-Kaabi.
Qatar Chamber director general Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi also was present at the two-day summit, which identified the most important sporting achievements of Qatar.
A large number of German and Arab officials from sport, trade, and economic sectors also took part.
In a statement, Sheikh Khalifa praised the co-operation between Qatar Chamber, the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce, and Qatar’s embassy in Germany.
He noted that the summit was a success and achieved positive outcomes in promoting the developments achieved by Qatar in the sports sector within the past few years, as well as the key role played by the country in developing this sector worldwide and the sport projects being established in the country.
“The presence of Sheikh Joaan gave the summit an impetus, and affirms that it has been received with a great attention by all athletes and sports institutions and companies,” he stressed.
Sheikh Khalifa also said the summit’s “great attendance” and the large Arab and German participation “represented a clear message that stresses the world’s trust in Qatar and its key role in world sport, as well as its ability to organise mega global sports championships.”
He said that the summit constitutes a unique opportunity that helped in informing the international community on Qatari sport and its preparations for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as projects related to the global tournament.
Sheikh Khalifa underscored Qatar Chamber’s keenness on sponsoring the summit, which stemmed from the interest in promoting the developments in the sport sector worldwide, and informing the business and sport communities on the growth of the Qatari sports and projects available in this sector.
Al-Sharqi said the summit attracted a large turnout of German companies willing to learn about investment opportunities available in the Qatari sport sector, as well as business opportunities that stemmed from sport championship for the private sector in hospitality, tourism, trade, investment, and other services.
