President of the Republic of Angola Joao Manuel Lourenco called on Qatari businessmen to invest in his country and benefit from the opportunities it offers in various sectors in light of the attractive investment climate it offers.
He was meeting with a number of businessmen from Qatar Chamber yesterday at Sheraton Hotel in the presence of Qatar Chamber Second Vice-Chairman Rahsid bin Hamad Al Athaba.
The meeting touched on ways of enhancing trade relations between both countries and investment opportunities available in Angola.
Lourenço said that Qatar is an important country not only in the Middle East region but also in the whole world, praising the development it sees at social and economic fields for the welfare of its people.
He also noted that the Angolan delegation comprises of many ministers, officials and private sector representatives. The President said that his visit was marked by many successful meetings with Qatari officials and witnessed signing many agreements for enhancing cooperation ties.
Regarding areas of investment in his country, he said that there are many opportunities in many sectors especially in tourism, infrastructure, ports, industry and many sectors.
Second Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber Rashid al Athba praised the Angola’s keen interest to meet with Qatari businessmen and investors with a view to examining ways of enhancing our cooperation relations for the good of our friendly countries. He noted that despite the strong relations between the two countries countries, their trade volume is still weak.
Al Athba expressed his confidence that there is ample room for cooperation between business sectors and there is a wide scope of business opportunities in both sides.
He noted that Angola has huge potentials in many key economic sectors such as agriculture and mining, noting stressing that these sectors are very attractive for Qatari investors who are eager to invest in Africa in general and in Angola in particular, especially that Angola sought to attract foreign investment thanks to investment incentives, new laws and easy procedures of doing business and facilitate investments.
He stressed the Chamber’s support and encourage all Qatari businessmen and companies to invest in Angola which is one of the most fast-growing economies in Africa.
