Qatar Chamber, Tawar Mall join hands to promote SMEs

Qatar Chamber and Tawar Mall have launched an initiative to support Qatari industry through a strategic partnership, targeting entrepreneurs and their small and medium enterprises.

The announcement came during a Ramadan suhour held at Tawar Mall in the presence of Qatar Chamber Director General Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi and Tawar Mall’s Chairman Jassim bin Jabor Tawar al Kuwari.

The initiative is part of the Chamber’s effort to enhance the social responsibility of the business community, with the focus on helping families become productive.

It aims at adopting and promoting products of such families at the mall, which is scheduled to have a soft opening in September.

Saleh Al Sharqi said the initiative would strengthen the support extended to small and medium enterprises in Qatar, which would have a positive impact on the Qatari market and economy in general.

There is a great interest from the mall’s owners to develop local products, he added saying, “The Mall includes a host of international brands alongside Qatari companies.”

Al Sharqi said the Chamber would promote the mall inside and outside Qatar.

Products made by families will be displayed in the mall on dedicated spaces called “Old Market”, which will be built following an antique design.

He praised the mall’s initiative to dedicate a market for promoting the local products.
Jassim bin Tawar al Kuwari said the mall was honoured to have associated with the Chamber, and together, the two entities would implement several new ideas in the near future. Qatar’s economy was robust and resilient to crises, he said, noting that the mall signed many contracts since a diplomatic blockade between Qatar and some Gulf countries started on June 5.

He paid tribute to the Chamber’s roles in supporting and developing the Qatari trading institutions to achieve growth and continuity.

Al Kuwari said 60 percent of the total space in the mall, which features halls for organising events and dedicated spaces to promote Qatari products, have been booked.
