The New ICC Arbitration Rules of 2017 will be officially launched in Doha on May 10 2017 at City Center Rotana in an event organized by the International Chamber of Commerce Qatar (ICC Qatar) and the ICC International Court of Arbitration and sponsored by Ghada M. Darwish Law Firm.
The event will include two panel discussions. The first panel will discuss amendments to the ICC Rules of Arbitration that have been made with the aim of further increasing the efficiency and transparency of ICC arbitrations. The revised rules apply from 1 March 2017. They provide for expedited procedure rules for cases of lower value. The main changes will be introduced with a strong focus on features of the expedited procedure including substantive and procedural aspects.
The second panel will explore to what extent the new Qatar arbitration law will address the remaining challenges in international arbitration and particularly in ICC proceedings. Qatar has been one of the fastest growing arbitration jurisdictions in the region with Qatari parties increasingly opting for ICC arbitration. The new arbitration law will further strengthen Qatar as a hub of arbitration.
The event program will benefit practicing lawyers, arbitrators, magistrates, engineers, academics, corporate counsel and LL.M. students.Arbitration specialists from Qatar and abroad as well as ICC representatives will gather in Doha on the 10th of May 2017 to discuss issues related to the revised ICC Rules and the new Qatar arbitration law and its impact on ICC arbitration.
